HOD's Message

From the Department Head

DR. SUNIL BARAN KUILA

DR. SUNIL BARAN KUILA

PROFESSOR
PHD

"Welcome to the Department of Chemical Engineering at Haldia Institute of Technology, Haldia. Our journey commenced in 1996 with an intake capacity of 30 for the 4-year B.Tech program in Chemical Engineering, and we have since expanded our current intake capacity to 120. The M. Tech program in Chemical Engineering was initiated in 2008 with an intake capacity of 12. We are a vibrant department dedicated to achieving excellence in research, technological innovation, and academic instruction, supported by our highly qualified and experienced faculty and staff. We have successfully produced numerous batches of alumni at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, many of whom are flourishing in various industries and academic institutions both domestically and internationally. Our department has been accredited by the NBA since 2004. Our academic offerings—B.Tech and M.Tech—focus on solid foundational knowledge complemented by practical training through laboratory exercises, industry internships, and capstone projects. We actively monitor developments in the field of chemical engineering and adapt our curriculum to align with the latest trends and technologies. Regarding the B.Tech program, we have also developed plans to revise the curriculum in accordance with the National Credit Framework (NCrF) as outlined by the NEP 2020. This revision aims to ensure that our students gain adequate exposure to the applications of AI/ML and numerical analytical methods within the realm of Chemical Engineering."
